Warm lighting can enrich wood and brass tones, while cooler lighting can make whites, grays, chrome, and black finishes appear crisper. Review samples under the actual lighting temperature planned for the kitchen.

Coordinate Plumbing Early

Faucet height, reach, mounting style, sink dimensions, drain location, and cabinet conditions should be coordinated before countertops are fabricated. Wall-mounted and deck-mounted fixtures require different rough-in planning.

Plan Electrical and Lighting Details Before Wall Finishes

Linear lighting, pendants, sconces, under-cabinet lighting, and concealed LEDs may require blocking, wiring, channels, drivers, or recesses before final wall or ceiling finishes are installed.

Approve the Kitchen Palette in a Practical Order

1. Gather the main samples. Compare cabinetry, flooring, countertop and backsplash samples together. Include representative grain or pattern variation where available.
2. Choose the metal relationship. Review the exact faucet, hardware and lighting finishes side by side. Decide which should match and which will provide deliberate contrast; identical finish names do not guarantee identical shades.
3. Check the room’s lighting. View the samples in daylight and under the proposed fixtures. Review gloss, reflections and texture from the main working and seating positions.
4. Confirm fit before fabrication. Give the plumber and countertop fabricator the exact sink and faucet models, cutout documents and mounting requirements before approving holes or cutouts.
5. Coordinate wall details. Confirm panel edges, matching trims, outlets and lighting locations with the installers before ordering or cutting finishes.
6. Record the approved selections. Keep model numbers, finish names, sample references, drawing revisions, quantities and included accessories in one schedule. Review substitutions against that schedule.
